BET, Target, Autumn

What do these things have in common? None of them exist in Honolulu. But instead of focusing on the negative, let's talk about the great things I have only experienced here in the last few weeks.

VH1 Classic. This is most immediate as it is currently less than half the angular size of my computer screen in my field of view. Much like the old days of M2, they seem to play only music videos, and not necessarily ones that have come out in the last 12 months. We're talking Billy Joel, Nirvana, C&C Music Factory, Eurhythmics, etc. This channel is among the panoply of channels I've just started getting with digital cable, but I'm not sure the rest are so great. For instance, if I asked myself "Do I want to know the "Truth About Gay Animals?" I have to say I'd probably say not really. I certainly wouldn't say "Yes, and show me lots of videos explaining this phenomenon including such animals as water buffalo, rams, and chimpanzees." But alas, while innocently flipping channels with my housemates I was subjected to more information on this subject than I thought could possibly exist.

The island has few other such cultural gems to offer, with the exception of a remarkable college radio station, and so I guess that's all there is to my list.
